Wicked – First Look Trailer

Wicked will be a 2-part film event.

After captivating audiences on stage for over two decades, “Wicked” is finally coming to the silver screen this holiday season, promising an enchanting cinematic experience like never before. The highly anticipated film adaptation of “Wicked,” which tells the untold tale of the witches of Oz, will be in theaters on November 27th, 2024. Powerhouse Cynthia Erivo, who has won Emmy, Grammy, and Tony awards as Elphaba, is starring in the iconic role. She plays the misunderstood young woman with emerald-green skin. Grammy-winning sensation Ariana Grande plays Glinda, the privileged and ambitious beauty. The on-screen chemistry between the two promises to bring depth and nuance to their characters’ unlikely but profound friendship. The film is set against the backdrop of Shiz University, where Elphaba and Glinda first meet. It follows their journey as they navigate the complexities of power, friendship, and self-discovery. As their paths diverge following an encounter with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, their choices lead them to fulfill their destinies as Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West, with unexpected consequences along the way.

Joining Erivo and Grande is an all-star cast.

It includes Michelle Yeoh, who won an Oscar as the regal headmistress Madame Morrible. Jonathan Bailey plays the roguish prince Fiyero, and Tony nominee Ethan Slater plays the altruistic Munchkin student Boq. Marissa Bode makes her feature-film debut as Nessarose, Elphaba’s favored sister, while pop culture icon Jeff Goldblum takes on the role of the legendary Wizard of Oz. The ensemble cast also features Emmy nominee Bowen Yang and Bronwyn James as Pfannee and ShenShen, respectively. They play conniving compatriots of Glinda. Tony nominee Keala Settle portrays the new character, Miss Coddle.

Director Jon M. Chu, famous for his work on “Crazy Rich Asians” and “In the Heights,” directs “Wicked.” It is a 2 part movie that promises to be a visually stunning and emotionally captivating cinematic experience. “Wicked Part Two” will hit theaters on November 26, 2025. This ensures that fans will have much more to look forward to in the coming years. So, mark your calendars and get ready to be enchanted by “Wicked” this Thanksgiving.
