Ahsoka Season 2 Brings Back Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker

Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker returns alongside Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka faces Grand Admiral Thrawn and questions what it means to be a Jedi.

Lucasfilm has officially revealed when fans can return to the galaxy far, far away for the next chapter of Ahsoka. The Emmy Award-winning Star Wars series will premiere its second season Jan. 20, 2027, exclusively on Disney+.

Rosario Dawson returns in the title role as Ahsoka Tano, whose journey will continue beyond the known galaxy. The former Jedi must confront what it means to follow the Jedi path while Grand Admiral Thrawn prepares to bring war to the New Republic.

The premiere date was announced during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event at the Honda Center in Anaheim. Series creator and Lucasfilm President and Chief Creative Officer Dave Filoni appeared onstage alongside Dawson, Hayden Christensen and Eman Esfandi.

The group gave fans their first look at the new season by debuting its teaser trailer and official poster. The footage received an enthusiastic response from the D23 audience as Lucasfilm offered a glimpse at the dangers awaiting Ahsoka and her allies.

Ahsoka Season 2 Continues the Journey Beyond the Galaxy

Season 2 picks up with Ahsoka and her Jedi apprentice, Sabine Wren, still attempting to find their way home. Their journey takes them across a mysterious, dangerous world far beyond the galaxy they know.

However, Ahsoka’s fight is about more than returning home. Her experiences will force her to examine her connection to the Jedi and decide what that legacy means for her future.

Meanwhile, Grand Admiral Thrawn has returned as a major threat to the fragile New Republic. The brilliant Imperial strategist and his sinister allies intend to push the galaxy into another devastating war.

Ahsoka and Sabine may be separated from their friends, but the fight against Thrawn will continue on multiple fronts. Hera Syndulla, Ezra Bridger, Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios and Chopper must stand against Thrawn’s growing forces while searching for a way to help their missing allies.

The season’s premise sets up a larger conflict that could reshape the future of the New Republic. Thrawn’s arrival gives the scattered Imperial forces a dangerous leader capable of uniting them against the emerging government.

Eman Esfandi previously spoke with Nerdtropolis about what audiences can expect from Ezra’s return. The actor teased that Season 2 would be “way more intense,” feature “way more action” and deliver “a lot more Ezra.”
