Ben Affleck directs and stars alongside Kerry Washington in Netflix’s action thriller about parents fighting to rescue their kidnapped son.
How can one overcome a family crisis if they don’t know where to begin? That’s where Netflix’s Animals comes in as Ben Affleck and Kerry Washington’s newest action-thriller explores that question in a new trailer.
In addition to the newest trailer for Animals being released, several new images of the upcoming thriller were also released. These new images highlight the darker means that this mother-father duo will have to utilize if they are to save their son.
The new trailer for Animals sees Affleck’s Mark Kimball, a mayoral candidate for Los Angeles, trying to make good on his word with the support of his wife, Abigail, and their son. However, when their son gets kidnapped by a cryptic criminal, the two resort to troubling methods to save him, including getting a mysterious fixer. Although Washington’s Abigail doesn’t want to killing, Affleck’s Kimball might not see any other way.
Ben Affleck Makes Another Thrilling Return to Netflix in Animals
In addition to Affleck and Washington, the full cast for Animals includes The X-Files star Gillian Anderson, Adriana Paz, Ray Fisher, Christopher Woodley, Matt Gerald, Jacob Estrada, with Luis Gerardo Méndez, and Steven Yeun. The film is directed by Affleck, who co-writes with Connor O. McIntyre and Billy Ray.
Affleck recently talked about including such names to the cast of Animals to Netflix TUDUM. “I’m a big believer that the audience has expectations of me, of Kerry, of Steven, of everyone,” Affleck said. “You want to use that and then drift away from it in ways that help tell your story.”
Animals joins the roster of Affleck-Damon collaborations for Netflix, which previously included The Rip earlier this year. Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s collaborative projects are numerous to count, but there are certainly several films that many audiences have watched. From the biographical 2023 sports drama Air to their medieval outing in 2021’s The Last Duel, these two stars continue to keep viewers hooked with every turn they’ve made.
Affleck partners once again with Damon on the production side of Animals alongside Brad Weston, Collin Creighton, Dani Bernfeld, and Luciana Damon. Executive producers include Michael Beugg; Kevin Halloran and Michael Joe for Artists Equity; Graham Taylor, Chris Rice, Christopher Slager, and Dan Guando for Fifth Season.
Animals releases in select theaters and on Netflix on Friday, October 9.
