Other Mommy New Trailer Splits Jessica Chastain Into Two Mothers

Rob Savage directs the adaptation of Josh Malerman’s bestselling novel Incidents Around the House.

Being a mother doesn’t always mean that good things will happen. In Other Mommy, the opposite happens as the upcoming horror film rips apart another family, courtesy of Blumhouse.

The newest trailer for Other Mommy goes more in-depth than the first trailer, building on the scares that shocked many on that trailer’s arrival. Additionally, a new poster, featuring Jessica Chastain as the demon mimicking the family’s matriarch, as well as new images from the film were also revealed.

The film itself sees the young Bela forming a relationship with a sinister entity in her home who looks uncannily like her own mother. This story comes from the mind of Rob Savage, who also directed 2020’s Host as well as his own adaptation of Stephen King’s The Boogeyman.

Jessica Chastain Leads a Cast of Horror Icons

In Other Mommy, Chastain stars as dual roles, playing both Bela’s mother and as “Other Mommy,” the entity that haunts this family. Chastain is no stranger to the horror genre as she has been featured in several films within the space, including 2019’s It: Chapter Two as Beverly Marsh, Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak, and 2013’s Mama.

The full cast also includes Jay Duplass, who recently starred in Kane Parsons’ Backrooms, Arabella Olivia Clark, Dichen Lachman of Severance, Arian Moayed of Succession, and Karen Allen of the Indiana Jones movies.

Other Mommy comes from a screenplay by WGA award winner and Succession writer Nathan Elston based on the New York Times bestselling novel “Incidents Around the House” by Josh Malerman. James Wan produces alongside Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Rob Savage, Josh Malerman and Ryan Lewis, who serve as executive producers respectively.

Other Mommy premieres in theaters on October 9.
