Linda Cardellini leads Peacock’s eight-episode prequel exploring the mystery behind Jason Voorhees’ mother.
Peacock is taking horror fans back to where the nightmare began with Crystal Lake. The new drama series serves as a prequel to the Friday the 13th franchise and puts Pam Voorhees at the center of the mystery.
All eight episodes of Crystal Lake will premiere on Peacock on October 15, 2026. The series comes from A24 and showrunner Brad Caleb Kane, whose previous credits include It: Welcome to Derry, Tokyo Vice, and Warrior.
Crystal Lake Explores Pam Voorhees’ Tragic Past
Crystal Lake takes place almost one year after Pam’s young son, Jason, tragically drowned in the town lake. Jason was a sickly child, and his death has left his mother trapped in grief that she cannot escape.
Pam’s life takes another unsettling turn when two strangers arrive at her door and begin digging into her past. Their investigation triggers a disturbing chain of events throughout Crystal Lake.
As fear and suspicion spread across the community, the town’s residents begin asking a frightening question: Just who is Pam Voorhees?
Linda Cardellini leads the series as Pam Voorhees. The role brings one of horror’s most important figures back into the spotlight while exploring the events that shaped her before the original Friday the 13th murders.
Pamela Voorhees was revealed as the killer in the original 1980 film. Her son, Jason Voorhees, later became the franchise’s signature masked villain. Crystal Lake now has the opportunity to explore the family tragedy behind both characters through a longer, character-driven story.
Linda Cardellini Leads the Crystal Lake Cast
Cardellini is joined in the main cast by William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins and Gwendolyn Sundstrom.
The recurring cast includes Callum Vinson, Nick Cordileone, Joy Suprano, Danielle Kotch and Phoenix Parnevik.
The eight-episode season will feature installments directed by several filmmakers. Michael Lennox directs the first three episodes. Celine Held and Logan George direct Episodes 4 through 6, while Quyen Tran handles the final two episodes.
Each episode will run approximately 60 minutes, giving the creative team room to develop Pam, the town and the secrets surrounding Jason’s death.
All eight episodes of Crystal Lake will stream October 15 exclusively on Peacock.
