Malia Baker and Kylie Cantrall: The New Faces of Disney’s ‘Descendants’ Franchise

Meet the stars of ‘Descendants: The Rise of Red’ Malia Baker and Kylie Cantrall.

Disney+ is set to premiere “Descendants: The Rise of Red” on Friday, July 12. This latest installment in the beloved “Descendants” franchise will also have a special encore on Friday, Aug. 9, at 8:00 p.m. EDT/PDT on Disney Channel. We spoke to the upcoming film stars, Malia Baker and Kylie Cantrall. Watch below!

“Descendants: The Rise of Red” explores the story of Red, the rebellious daughter of the Queen of Hearts, and Chloe, Cinderella’s perfectionist daughter. When the Queen of Hearts instigates a coup against Auradon, Red, and Chloe must team up and travel back in time to prevent the catastrophic event that led Red’s mother to her villainous ways.

Kylie Cantrall takes on the role of Red.

She brings a dynamic energy to the character of the Queen of Hearts’ daughter. Cantrall, known for her previous roles in Disney Channel’s “Gabby Duran & The Unsittables,” steps into this complex role with a fresh perspective. Her portrayal of Red is expected to add a new layer to the “Descendants” universe, blending rebelliousness with vulnerability.

Malia Baker stars as Chloe, Cinderella’s daughter. Baker, who has gained recognition for her roles in “The Babysitters Club” and “Are You Afraid of the Dark?”, brings Chloe a disciplined yet endearing quality. Her character’s journey from perfectionism to teamwork and understanding is central to the plot, making Baker’s performance one to watch.

The film features an ensemble cast of Villain Kids (VKs) and legacy characters.

Brandy reprises her role as Cinderella, joined by Rita Ora as the Queen of Hearts. Dara Reneé plays Uliana, Ursula’s sister, while Ruby Rose Turner and Morgan Dudley star as the young versions of the Queen of Hearts and Cinderella, respectively. The cast also includes Joshua Colley as Young Hook, Peder Lindell as Morgie, Grace Narducci as Fay/Young Fairy Godmother, Jeremy Swift as Principal Merlin, Paolo Montalban as King Charming, and Leonardo Nam as Maddox Hatter. China Anne McClain returns as Uma, now the new principal at Auradon Prep. Melanie Paxson also returns, reprising her role as the Fairy Godmother.

“Descendants: The Rise of Red” promises to captivate audiences with its blend of adventure, time travel, and the ever-present battle between good and evil. This new chapter will introduce fresh faces and bring back beloved characters, continuing the legacy of the “Descendants” franchise.
