First Look at Netflix’s Devil May Cry Season 2

Dante and Vergil collide in Devil May Cry season 2 on Netflix.

Dante vs. Vergil. Brother vs. brother. Devil May Cry 2 is officially coming to Netflix in 2026, continuing the saga of Capcom’s beloved demon-hunting franchise. The highly anticipated second season promises a showdown between the two brothers that fans of the video game series have been waiting to see come to life in animation.

Behind the Series

Produced by Capcom and spearheaded by showrunner Adi Shankar (Castlevania), Devil May Cry 2 is animated by Studio Mir, known for its work on The Legend of Korra and Dota: Dragon’s Blood. Shankar’s bold vision brings a stylized and action-packed take on Hideki Kamiya’s creation, pushing the franchise’s mythos into new storytelling territory.

I also spoke with Adi Shankar, Johnny Yong Bosch, and Scout Taylor-Compton about the new season. Check out the full interview.

The Cast

Leading the voice cast is Johnny Yong Bosch (Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War). He takes on the role of Dante, the half-human, half-demon warrior at the center of the series. Starring alongside him is Scout Taylor-Compton (The Runaways), who voices Mary, bringing both heart and intensity to the story. Their performances anchor the anime’s blend of gothic atmosphere and fast-paced action, ensuring longtime fans and newcomers alike will be pulled into the supernatural world of Devil May Cry.

What Is Devil May Cry Based On?

Devil May Cry is based on Capcom’s hit action-adventure video game series, first created by Hideki Kamiya. The story follows Dante. He is a half-human, half-demon hunter on a quest to avenge his mother’s death by battling the legions of demons threatening humanity. Since its debut in 2001, the franchise has become a global phenomenon. It has gone on to spawn sequels, novels, comics, and an earlier anime adaptation.

Coming in 2026

With the rivalry between Dante and Vergil at the heart of this next installment, Devil May Cry 2 looks to raise the stakes both narratively and visually. Fans can expect a mix of stylish action, gothic atmosphere, and emotional storytelling when the series premieres exclusively on Netflix in 2026.
