Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt return as survivors of the legendary Southport Massacre, reprising their roles more than two decades after first hitting the screen in the late ’90s.

The screenplay is written by Sam Lansky and Robinson, from a story by Leah McKendrick and Robinson. Neal H. Moritz, who produced the original trilogy, returns as producer, alongside executive producers Jackie Shenoo and Karina Rahardja.

The film stars Outer Banks breakout Madelyn Cline, City on Fire’s Chase Sui Wonders, Jonah Hauer-King (The Little Mermaid), Tyriq Withers, Sarah Pidgeon, Billy Campbell, Gabbriette Bechtel, Austin Nichols, Lola Tung, and Nicholas Alexander Chavez. Prinze Jr. and Hewitt’s return marks their first appearance in the franchise since I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998).

The I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise originally began with the 1997 film based on Lois Duncan’s novel. It was followed by two sequels: I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998) and I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer (2006). A short-lived TV adaptation premiered on Prime Video in 2021 but was not renewed for a second season.

The new film is set to hit theaters on July 18th, bringing a fresh wave of horror just in time to make summer a lot more dangerous.
