The Electric State Trailer Promises Epic Sci-Fi Adventure

‘The Electric State’ trailer unveiled at NYCC, showcasing star-studded cast and Russo Brothers’ vision.

NEW YORK—Fans were treated to a first look at The Electric State during an exclusive panel at New York Comic Con. Millie Bobby Brown, Chris Pratt, and directors Anthony and Joe Russo were on stage to unveil the highly anticipated trailer. The film is a retro-futuristic adventure based on the graphic novel by Simon Stålenhag. It will stream on Netflix on March 14, 2025.

The Russo brothers, known for their work on Avengers: Endgame, were joined by stars Brown and Pratt.

They shared exclusive clips and behind-the-scenes footage with an enthusiastic audience. Brown, best known for her roles in Stranger Things and Enola Holmes, plays Michelle. She is an orphaned teenager navigating a dystopian version of the 1990s where sentient robots, once integrated into society, now live in exile. Watch the trailer below!

The trailer introduces Michelle’s world, which changes after she encounters Cosmo, a charming yet mysterious robot. She learns Cosmo is connected to her genius younger brother Christopher, whom she believes dead. This revelation sends Michelle on a cross-country quest across the American Southwest to find her brother. She is accompanied by Cosmo and a group of eclectic allies she meets along the way.

Chris Pratt, known for his roles in Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World, stars as Keats, a smuggler who becomes Michelle’s unlikely companion. The film also features a robust ensemble cast, including Academy Award winner Ke Huy Quan, Stanley Tucci, Giancarlo Esposito, Jason Alexander, and Woody Norman. The voice cast adds even more star power, with Anthony Mackie, Woody Harrelson, Brian Cox, Jenny Slate, and Alan Tudyk bringing the film’s animated robots to life.

Directed by the Russo brothers, The Electric State was written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the duo behind Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. The filmmakers promised an epic Amblin-like adventure that blends heartfelt storytelling with stunning visuals. It will be a nostalgic ride through a world that’s both familiar and completely reimagined.

The Electric State is set for official release in March. It will easily be one of Netflix’s major blockbuster offerings of 2025.
