The Hunger Games saga returns to the big screen.
The Hunger Games saga is heading back to theaters for a limited big-screen event. Lionsgate and Fathom Entertainment are bringing all five Hunger Games films back to theaters from September 3-7, 2026. The event gives longtime fans and new viewers a chance to revisit Panem before the next chapter arrives.
Each screening will also feature an exclusive sneak peek at The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The upcoming film opens in theaters everywhere on November 20, 2026.
The theatrical event includes The Hunger Games, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2, and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.
Before Sunrise on the Reaping takes audiences back to the Second Quarter Quell, fans can relive Katniss Everdeen’s journey on the big screen. That includes the rise of the Mockingjay, the fall of President Snow, and the fight for the future of Panem.
Fans Can Revisit Katniss Everdeen’s Epic Journey
Jennifer Lawrence’s run as Katniss Everdeen helped define a generation of YA blockbusters. From 2012 to 2015, the original films turned Suzanne Collins’ novels into a major movie franchise.
“Jennifer Lawrence’s performances as the hero Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games movies were landmark cinematic achievements. Fathom Entertainment is thrilled to partner once again with Lionsgate in bringing The Hunger Games: All Five Films to the big screen September 3-7,” said Jason Brenek, CEO of Fathom Entertainment. “With each film featuring a distinct, theatrical exclusive look at The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, this is a must-see series of films for fans.”
Kevin Grayson, president of worldwide distribution for the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, said the event kicks off the countdown to the 50th Hunger Games.
“We’re kicking off the countdown to the 50th Hunger Games by inviting audiences back to the theaters to see these epic films on the big screen,” Grayson said. “Sunrise on the Reaping is the most highly anticipated Hunger Games film yet, and to get ready, we’re proud to partner with Fathom to give audiences the opportunity to experience all five original films together in theaters.”
Sunrise On The Reaping Arrives In November
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is set 24 years before the events of The Hunger Games. The story begins on the morning of the reaping for the 50th Hunger Games. Fans know that brutal event as the Second Quarter Quell.
The film stars Joseph Zada, Jesse Plemons, Ralph Fiennes, Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin, Elle Fanning, Mckenna Grace, Maya Hawke, Whitney Peak, and Kelvin Harrison Jr.
Francis Lawrence directs the film from a screenplay by Billy Ray and Michael Lesslie. The movie is based on the novel by Suzanne Collins. Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, and Francis Lawrence produce.
The Hunger Games franchise has become one of Lionsgate’s biggest global properties. Based on Collins’ best-selling books from Scholastic, the five films have earned more than $3.4 billion at the worldwide box office. The franchise also features Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Stanley Tucci, and Donald Sutherland.

Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026 — The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2
Panem is at war, and Katniss leads a dangerous mission against President Snow. The battle for freedom pushes her beyond anything she faced in the arena.
Monday, Sept. 7, 2026 — The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes
