Rick Riordan’s Egyptian mythology trilogy is getting a live-action Disney+ adaptation following the success of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

Another iconic mythology series from Rick Riordan is finally making its way to Disney+! After ruminations and fan speculation, Riordan’s second book series, The Kane Chronicles, is now confirmed to be officially in development.
Per Deadline, The Kane Chronicles will be getting a live-action series adaptation on Disney+. The upcoming series will be developed by Riordan, who is also working on Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and Wednesday director Angela Robinson. However, there are no castings yet as the series is still early in its development.
The series’ official logline reads: “When their father unleashes the god of chaos and vanishes, the estranged Kane siblings must master their inherited Egyptian magic, forge unlikely alliances, and rescue their father before warring gods can wreak havoc on our modern world.”
For fans familiar with Riordan’s work, The Kane Chronicles is a trilogy based on Egyptian mythology rather than the Greek pantheon. It follows siblings Carter and Sadie, who become hosts of the gods Horus and Isis respectively, as they venture into the Egyptian realms to stop Apophis, the god of chaos. The trilogy consists of three books: The Red Pyramid, The Throne of Fire, and The Serpent’s Shadow.
In the past, Netflix tried to produce their own adaptation of Riordan’s second series.
However, that adaptation was scrapped after Riordan found success on Disney+ with Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Fans familiar with the books also know that Kane Chronicles and Percy Jackson share the same narrative universe. Now that the Kane siblings are making their way to Disney+, the likelihood of Carter and Sadie encountering Percy and his allies has increased.
The news comes on the heels of Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3‘s upcoming release. Previously, that Disney+ series was featured at D23 Expo 2026 as well as San Diego Comic Con. Later this year, New York Comic Con will be hosting a series-centric panel involving leading star Walker Scobell. Additionally, Riordan will also be heading to NYCC 2026 to promote his newest book, Camp Half-Blood: From the World of Percy Jackson: The Wild Zone, which releases September 29.
The Kane Chronicles will be produced by 20th Century Studios. Rick Riordan, Rebecca Riordan, Angela Robinson, and Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Jeremy Bell will be executive producing.
As for fans of the Greek demigods, Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 will release on November 20 on Disney+.
