The Righteous Gemstones bid farewell with an outrageous, heartfelt, and hilariously unhinged final season.

The fourth and final season of The Righteous Gemstones cements its legacy as one of the most original and hilarious series of the modern era. Danny McBride’s televangelist satire has consistently upped the ante, and this season is no exception. Right from the first episode, it’s clear that something truly special is being crafted, setting up an eye-opening storyline with a fantastic cameo before diving into the Gemstones’ latest chaotic saga.
From the moment the premiere begins, it feels like familiar and fresh comfort food, making it all the more heartbreaking that this is the end. The Gemstone family’s absurd antics and deep-seated dysfunction have made for some of the most entertaining television in recent years, blending outlandish comedy with surprisingly heartfelt moments.

At the heart of the show’s magic is its stellar ensemble cast.
While every actor shines, Walton Goggins as Baby Billy Freeman and John Goodman as Eli Gemstone remain standouts. Goggins’ impeccable comedic timing and delightful absurdity consistently steal the spotlight, bringing a lively energy that captivates audiences. In contrast, Goodman’s powerful presence and deep gravitas anchor the series, offering a poignant emotional depth that resonates throughout each episode.

That’s not to take anything away from the rest of the cast. Danny McBride, Adam Devine, and Edi Patterson as Jesse, Kelvin, and Judy Gemstone, respectively, continue to be a trio of lovable idiots whose sibling rivalries and harebrained schemes never get old.

This season also brings a fantastic new addition with Seann William Scott, who blends seamlessly into the show’s world. Meanwhile, supporting players like Gideon (Skyler Gisondo) and BJ (Tim Baltz) get their moments to shine, proving once again that The Righteous Gemstones knows how to make every character count.

One of the series’ greatest strengths has always been its ability to balance over-the-top comedy with genuine emotional depth. Season 4 doubles down on that formula. It delivers some of the most outrageous, laugh-out-loud moments in TV history while exploring the family’s more vulnerable side. And yes, be prepared for an abundance of dong—because this show has never shied away from pushing boundaries.
Having watched six of the nine episodes, I can confidently say this season is shaping up to be one of the show’s best. It’s an absolute riot, yet tinged with the sadness of saying goodbye to these ridiculous, lovable characters.
Verdict
The Righteous Gemstones is set to end on a high note. When it finally ends, it will solidify its place as one of the funniest, most daring comedies in recent memory. The final season is a must-watch- a perfect blend of irreverence and heart.
