Violent Night 2 Throws David Harbour’s Santa In Another Knockout Brawl

Is it too early to get a Christmas present when summer’s about to end? That’s no problem for David Harbour, who’s making his return as the grittier version of Santa Claus in Violent Night 2, which premieres in theaters on December 4. Although Violent Night was a surprising welcome, its sequel looks to go bigger than ever.
Violent Night 2 sees Santa trying to rediscover the meaning of Christmas after his first incident taking out a group of mercenaries hunting down a family. Placed on the naughty list and now powerless, Santa must find his purpose once again, but this time, he’s trapped in a small town run by a violent gangster, played by Jared Harris. He’ll have to team up with the townspeople to save this town, but he’s also got someone to help him: Mrs. Claus, played by Kristen Bell.

The trailer itself sees all of this in action, with Santa going full John Wick against an entirely new group of criminals. Every attack shows how brutal Santa is going to get, from slicing with cookie cutters to cooking these thugs alive. Explosions, blood, and guts are spilled with the arrival of Mrs. Claus, a jolly new addition to the Violent Night universe.
In 2022, Violent Night made waves in theaters, first premiering at New York Comic Con on October 7.
With many positive reviews from critics and audiences alike, it managed to be a success for Universal Pictures. Following the first film’s release, Charlize Theron expressed her interest in joining Violent Night 2, which Harbour also shared. The sequel had many ideas going around, from including the North Pole, Santa’s elves, and much more.

However, it wouldn’t be until 2023 until the sequel was officially announced. Now, with this sequel officially coming out, audiences may get to enjoy the insane antics of David Harbour’s Santa Claus once again.
Violent Night 2 is A Welcome Gift From David Harbour and Kristen Bell
In addition to Harbour, Harris, and Bell, the main cast for Violent Night 2 includes Joe Pantoliano (The Last of Us), Daniela Melchior (Fast X), Andrew Bachelor (Greenland), and AEW’s Maxwell Friedman (The Iron Claw). Tommy Wirkola returns to direct the upcoming sequel and will be written by returning writers Pat Casey and Josh Miller.
Violent Night 2 hails from 87North, the studio behind Bullet Train, John Wick, The Fall Guy, Atomic Blonde and the Nobody franchise, and Universal Pictures. Kelly McCormick and David Leitch also executive produce.
Violent Night 2 releases in theaters on December 4.
