Robert Eggers is returning to the darkness with WERWULF, and the new trailer offers a haunting look at the filmmaker’s next horror nightmare.
Focus Features has released the latest trailer for the film, which stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Willem Dafoe and Lily-Rose Depp. Eggers directs and co-wrote the screenplay alongside Sjón, reuniting the filmmaker with several collaborators from his previous work.
The footage dives deeper into a brutal world shaped by fear, superstition and something monstrous lurking within. Rather than revealing every secret, the trailer leans into unsettling imagery, darkness and the threat surrounding its characters.
Focus Features describes WERWULF as Eggers’ “most visceral and haunting experience yet,” calling the film a harrowing tale of devotion, damnation and the devil within.
Robert Eggers Returns To Horror With WERWULF
Eggers has built his filmmaking career around immersive worlds where folklore, history and horror collide. WERWULF continues that approach while turning his attention toward one of horror’s most recognizable monsters.
Taylor-Johnson leads the cast after previously appearing in Eggers’ Nosferatu, while Depp also reunites with the filmmaker following her starring role in the gothic horror film. Dafoe continues his long-running collaboration with Eggers after appearing in projects including The Lighthouse, The Northman and Nosferatu.
Eggers produces WERWULF alongside Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Garrett Bird and Sjón. Chris Columbus, Eleanor Columbus and Bernard Bellew serve as executive producers.
The new trailer keeps much of the story hidden while emphasizing the film’s grim atmosphere and the danger surrounding its characters. Its imagery points toward another deeply immersive horror experience from Eggers built around dread, violence, and ancient fears.
WERWULF Launches Interactive Full-Moon Experience
Focus Features is also extending the world of WERWULF beyond the screen with an alternate reality game at DevourethAllMankynde.com.
The experience is timed around each full moon from September through November. During every full moon, players must search various digital platforms for a hidden “sign” and decipher it before entering the answer on the website.
There is one major catch: each sign is only available for 24 hours during its corresponding full moon before disappearing.
Fans who successfully complete all three moons will reach the conclusion of the experience and unlock a mysterious prize.
WERWULF opens exclusively in theaters on December 25, 2026.
