Michael B. Jordan unveils the first teaser for his stylish reimagining of The Thomas Crown Affair.
If there’s one name in the heist thriller game that many should know about, it’s Thomas Crown. However, it’s been several years since audiences got to see this international thief on the big screen. Fortunately, Michael B. Jordan is bringing him back in his new take on The Thomas Crown Affair.
Following the recent release of the film’s poster, Amazon MGM Studios finally released the first teaser for The Thomas Crown Affair. Earlier this year, CinemaCon attendees got to see the first look at this refreshing adaptation from Creed and Sinners star Michael B. Jordan. Although much has been under wraps, this teaser reveals a sneak peek into the escapades that this version of the thieving billionaire finds himself in.
This version of The Thomas Crown Affair sees Jordan’s Thomas Cross travelling the world to find and steal precious artifacts and goods. Closing in on him is a former FBI agent-turned-insurance investigator, played by Andor‘s Adria Arjona, who Crown slowly falls in love with. Unfortunately for them, they face some interference from a mysterious threat, played by Kenneth Branagh, who plans to take Crown down.
Although everyone believes Cross is stealing these items for his own gain, his true motivation is to return these artifacts to their original makers. Time will only tell whether or not anyone will come to understand his perspective.
Michael B. Jordan’s Antiheroic Thomas Crown Pays Dividends
Previoussly, in a November interview with Variety, Jordan said that his take on the franchise is “more personal” and puts a spin on the original franchise. “The stakes are higher. Still got the fashion, romance,” Jordan stated.
“I saw the 1968 Steve McQueen version — the split screens, the style. After Creed, MGM asked what I wanted to do next. I said, ‘Thomas Crown Affair.’ I need that.”
The Thomas Crown Affair‘s cast is rounded out by Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurria, and Pilou Asbæk. This feature marks the second directorial feature for Jordan following 2023’s Creed 3.
In addition, Drew Pearce and Jason Hall also write the script based on the original 1968 film and produced by Jordan, Elizabeth Raposo, Marc Toberoff, Patrick McCormick, Charles Roven. Most audiences may be familiar with the 1999 remake starring Pierce Brosnan in a similar narrative.
The Thomas Crown Affair releases in theaters on March 5, 2027.
