Frasier Showrunners Chris Harris and Joe Cristalli on Season Two of the Beloved Series

Exploring the humor and heart of Frasier with Chris Harris and Joe Cristalli.

The highly anticipated second season of the original comedy series Frasier, starring Kelsey Grammer, is now streaming. Produced by CBS Studios, Frasier follows Dr. Frasier Crane (Grammer) as he returns to Boston to face new challenges and forge new relationships while hoping to fulfill long-held dreams.

In its sophomore season, Dr. Crane will reconnect with his radio roots in a Seattle-themed episode, showcasing the character’s iconic journey. The series is filmed before a live studio audience at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles, providing an authentic comedy experience reminiscent of its predecessor. Alongside Grammer, the cast includes Jack Cutmore-Scott as Frasier’s son, Freddy; Nicholas Lyndhurst as Alan, a college buddy turned professor; Toks Olagundoye as Olivia, head of the university’s psychology department; Jess Salgueiro as Eve; Frasier and Freddy’s neighbor; and Anders Keith as Frasier’s nephew, David.

Writers Chris Harris, known for How I Met Your Mother, and Joe Cristalli, of Life in Pieces, serve as executive producers alongside Grammer, Tom Russo, and Jordan McMahon. The collaboration aims to blend classic Frasier wit with contemporary storytelling, appealing to both new viewers and longtime fans. During my conversation with Harris Cristalli, they shared their deep appreciation for the original Frasier, discussing how its legacy inspires their work in the new season. They also reflected on Grammer’s unique similiarities with the character of Frasier Crane. Watch below!

Season two also promises an impressive lineup of guest stars.

It includes Peri Gilpin, Dan Butler, Rachel Bloom, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Patricia Heaton. Legendary director James Burrows returns to helm two episodes, enhancing the series’ nostalgic charm. The original series holds the record for the most Emmy wins for a comedy series, boasting 37 wins and 107 nominations. The new Frasier inaugural season has already garnered three Primetime Emmy nominations, solidifying its place in the television landscape.
